APPLICATION FOR CALEB HUTCHINSON
30 ¦ HIGH SCHOOL TEACHER ¦ WITCH ¦ CHRIS EVANS
PERSONALITY:
Naturally educating comes with his job, since a young age he has always taken pride in showing others how to do things, feeling proud of himself for empowering people to be able to do things independently without the help of others, from simple things from tying a shoe to complex mathematical equations later in his school years. Someone who thrives on his work, he puts 110% into all of his classes, ensuring that his students can understand what he's talking about at all times, never telling a student to 'look it up', he'd rather find the information for himself, and make sure the student is understanding it properly. With that, comes his caring nature. He would never see someone go without, even if it means dipping into his own pocket, or having to go out of his way to make sure that homeless man on the street is fed and has had atleast one meal that day.
Being the adventurous person that he is, he has hardly had time for any proper love to form in his life, he hasn't managed to settle down in one town for longer than three years to date, especially with his family consistently moving around when he was younger; it seemed to be genetic, wanting to explore the world and wanting to get a better understanding of it and the hidden wonders, from the plain and simple Eiffel Tower, to the seven wonders of the world, to the plain and simply odd and mysterious. Who put Stonehenge there? Why is it there?
When it comes to his friendships there is one word that stands out more than any, and that is loyal, he would never see his friend go into a fight without back up, and he would never see them struggle. This sort of attitude has allowed various people to take advantage of him in the past, as he is too naive to see it when someone is using him, and he likes to see the light in everyone, however he has slowly turned over the time to come to realise that not everyone is as nice as they may seem, allowing him to take more of a cautious approach to friendships and his friends. This has taken it's toll when it's come to trusting people, too.
With all that said, he is sociable; he will happily meet someone at the bar for a drink or two, or go for a meal, or even something as simple as go for a stroll in the park. He's not too proud to do things for free like a lot of people he knows, he would in fact, rather do something that costs nothing so he has more free money to buy clothes. It wouldn't be fair to say that he didn't have a good taste when it came to clothes, he knew what tshirt to put with what pair of jeans and what shoes to go with them.
He has always taken pride in his appearance, he usually gets his hair trimmed up atleast once every month, and goes to the gym six days a week, even if it's not for a full work out, at least he can say he has been and exercised for a little while. Finally having that freedom to actually exercise and lose himself in his music and his little adrenaline rush from challenging himself gives him that space he craves so desperately. Living in a small town has made Caleb feel as if he is trapped, he wanting to expand and spread his wings.
Caleb has never been one to be happy with what they have, he has always wanted to progress further, whether it is career wise, money wise, house wise, whatever. During his time as a teacher he has found himself eyeing up more senior positions in the schools, but never having the courage or confidence to apply for them. He feels that he wouldn't be taken seriously; anxiety has been one of the biggest things holding him back from doing a lot of things in life, but it has always been one of his biggest secrets. He has always had this 'larger than life' persona about him that people meet. Having anxiety doesn't make his job easy, but he manages it with a variety of different breathing techniques, and has recently found that at work his anxiety has subsided.
Not having much time for a love life has left Caleb feeling lonely at times; trying to find someone he finds attractive is hard enough, as he has a very defined taste, then finding someone he finds attractive who finds him attractive is even harder. Being gay in such a small town leaves for a tiny dating pool, let alone with his almost specific military regime requirements for a life partner.
HISTORY:
Being born on a mild Spring morning had it's advantages; birthdays were usually warm, his parents usually invited the extended family down, and if he had any, friends in the current town he was living in. Usually his birthdays would be small family events, like with every other person's in his little clan, he never understood why his family were so secretive and tended to keep themselves to themselves, and one more thing he never understood was why his family were continuously getting more and more worried around the full moon timings, the one time of the month that all the doors would be locked in the house and he'd often hear them chanting around the doors. Being so young, he wanted to ask about it, but he'd constantly be brushed off with 'one day you'll understand' by his mother.
Mary, his mother, gave birth to him at the young tender age of 24, his father, Michael, being 25. His mother worked full time as a nurses aide in Chicago's biggest hospital, working on the med/surg floor, while his father worked full time running a small bakery on the corner of a well known busy street. Life seemed to be working out just fine in Chicago, Caleb had made a fair few friends during his time in school, he found himself at the top of classes and he had a decent place to live in. Being fairly popular in school, he found himself being the 'leader of the wolf pack', as him and his friends called themselves, until one day his parents made a decision that would change his life forever; they were moving away. New York City bound. Tears and tantrums followed for the next three weeks as they began the moving process, the usual things a child who didn't want to do something would do.
Once they had finally got to NYC, it didn't seem too bad, Caleb began to finally settle in when his parents did the same thing again, they were moving again. Two years after settling in to the new town of Casa Grande, Arizona, they moved again, this process began to repeat itself every two or three years, until Caleb hit the age of sixteen, where he put his foot down to his parents, explaining that he wanted to settle down somewhere for a few years at least so he could finish his high school diploma without worrying about when they were next going to move. He graduated high school with the rest of his class, sitting around the top of his class made most subjects easy for him, he wasn't at the very top, but he was around there.
College. The one place he knew he could settle without worrying about his parents interfering with him, but before he left, his parents had a few words of advice, they made no sense to him until strange things began happening around him, he began noticing things that would ordinarily make no sense, or when he had a bad feeling about something, it was generally right. He began to research into it, feeling stupid, feeling as if he was becoming one of those superstitious people, until his parents turned up at the College one afternoon for his birthday. His life was about to change forever.
His mother took the time to inform him about his heritage, his father standing quietly just nodding along and agreeing with what she was saying. Obviously to be told you've got abilities would come as a surprise to anyone, he didn't believe them at first, until they had a chance to prove it, or rather, they made him prove it to himself. Since then, his parents explained to him things more in detail, they explained to him that in his particular lineage, they have minor control over the weather, too, and not all lineages have that, but they have other abilities, such as telekinesis, but they also explained to him that he must keep their world a secret from the human world, to continue living as he has done, but to keep in mind the abilities he has and to call upon them as and when needed. With that, they departed, leaving him with their first grimoire of more basic spells.
Over the years, Caleb began gaining more and more power with this, he wasn't exactly the most powerful person going, but he could definitely hold his own if it came down to a witches showdown, of course, he had never quite grasped the ability to cast certain spells. One of the things he struggled mostly with was potions, he couldn't for the life of him brew them decently, he had tried all manners of things. He felt disheartened in the beginning, but slowly came to realise that he wasn't going to excel at everything. After a few years of travelling around, he finally applied for a job at Cloistere High School as their History teacher and has been settled here since.
